Ellerem Star

Based in the leafy green suburbs of Brisbane, Australia. Ellerem Star create mixed tape compilation style albums, filled with original lyrics. Perfect for any road trip!

Ellerem Star was born from the creative minds of Dash Starkey and Elle L. Over the past 20 years the pair have been writing lyrics for an array of bands. None ever reached mainstream and that was unfortunate.

 The lyrics are strong, passionate and reflect life experiences. They deserve to be heard. So, in 2025 Dash and Elle decided to produce the songs themselves. Taking the previously written lyrics, a few instruments, a hint of AI and several music programs, Ellerem Star was born.

 The first album, How We Explore, is a mix tape compilation of the songs written for an assortment of bands. From punk, country, metal, rock, pop, soul, blues, jazz and even reggae. No genre ever slows Dash and Elle from creating amazing lyrics.

 The second album, Count the Stars, is an ode to all the styles of country music. From the classics to modern hits, to country metal, to line dancing. No style is missed. It too is a fun mix tape compilation. Whether you are heading to work or the rodeo, you’ll be singing along in no time.

 Both albums have a mix of male and female voices, with the odd duet thrown in for good measure. Dash and Elle are not restricted by a single genre and do all they can to make their songs shine. This is obvious in every album. The freedom to let the lyrics carry them to any style, gives each song power and appeal.

 Beyond the Lyrics

 Dash Starkey is an author, podcaster and YouTube creator. With a backlog of both adult and children’s novels including the ‘Letters from’ series of fairy books. Fairyland Adventures continue in podcast form and animated stories on YouTube. Dash’s audience is worldwide.

 For many years Dash has used writing as an expression of her emotions, inner turmoils and a way to battle depression. Often her view of the world is unique, and this, as well as her humour, is reflected in everything she writes.

 Music has been a part of her life for the longest time, especially the influences of her father, Cliff, who loved both country and rock’n’roll equally. Dash has been an aspiring bassist for many years yet is happy to play without an audience.

Elle L is a singer, an artist and YouTube creator. Some of Elle’s artwork is found in Dash’s ‘Letters From” series of fairy books. Her work is also found in the Fairyland Adventures animated stories on YouTube.

 Elle’s quick wit and humour is often found in her songs. She writes when inspiration hits, no matter where she is. Her words flow as does her singing voice. Trained a little in opera, Elle loves all music styles and even formed a rock/pop band in her teens.

 Unfortunately, Elle’s singing voice is now corrupted by FND (Functiona Neurological Disorder), yet on a good day she is as awesome as ever. Her talents do not just lie there, as she is handy on most musical instruments especially the guitar. Preferring to be untethered when she creates music, Elle has no formal training in playing the guitar yet she rocks it every time. What an amazing skill.

Older is bolder!

Raised in the 70’s and 80’s, both Dash and Elle have been exposed to some awesome music moments. Their freedom of spirit and their wild ecclectic music taste makes for incredible songs. Probably the reason their albums appeal to a broad range of ages. There is no stopping this duo as they are creating new work every day. And are still happy to assist up and coming bands or singers.

The Community in which we belong

 Ellerem Star are strong believers in music and how it can empower, inspire and bring relief to all. Where possible Ellerem Star give back to those in our community. From women struggling with isolation, mental health and chronic illness, to the children in our remote country communities.

Music is a connector! It brings people from all walks of life together. We hope that our lyrics inspire the imagination, bring happiness, and empower others to follow their own musical dream.
